Interview with author Olivia Hardin

Today, i would like to welcome Olivia Hardin, author of the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy to the blog. Find out more about her and some fun upcoming projects!

Will there be any more books in this series?

Yes, I’m so excited to announce that after Bend-Bite-Shift we’ll be able to continue following the characters in my next trilogy, For Love of Fae. Here are the covers for those books, starting with Sweet Magic Song about Roon and Belle. I hope to release that book at the end of 2013!

Which character spoke to you the most during the writing process?

Actually it’s funny because I think Nicky spoke to me the most in this book. I was pretty much inside his mind since he was the focus of the first part of the book. At one point my editor warned that Gerry “wasn’t exactly a sympathetic character.” I realized I was channeling Nicky’s hurt a little too heavily.

If you could be any kind of paranormal creature, which would you choose?

Ooo… I have a soft spot for Devan’s powers in Witch Way Bends. I like how her power amplifies and expands the powers of other paranormals.

You have written about many paranormal beings. Which one is your favorite to write about?

I enjoyed writing Langston. He soothes me, makes me smile and no matter what situation I’ve gotten myself into (as a writer) when I channel him, I know I can work my way out of a corner.

What other projects do you have in the works?

I’m really excited about 2013. Currently I’m working on a contemporary romance called All For Hope to be published through Hayson Publishing and also the second in my MAUCs Series titled Tangled Up In Trouble. So this year is going to be fantastic!

You work closely with several other indie authors. Who are some that readers must check out?

Oh, you’re going to get me in trouble because there are so many that I’d be sure to leave someone out. I think readers should really look at Melissa Lummis and her Love and Light Series. She’s got a fun, twisty set of characters in a set of stories that have witches, vampires, healers and has just a touch of “hippie-feel.”

Who has influenced you the most?

Liz Schulte has been my mentor for some time now. She’s no-nonsense, she’s dedicated and she reminds me every day to find the balance between enjoying my dream of writing while honing the craft. She’s one of many writers who have helped me along the way.

What is something readers may be surprised to learn about you?

I can be terribly insecure. In fact, if I’m in an intimidating situation I will say my words in my head before I speak them. When I was in middle school I had a friend who called me on it when she caught me “mouthing” my words before I talked. I was mortified!

Anything else you would like to share?

I just want to say that I’m so honored to be interviewed on your blog today. I love to hear from my readers, so please facebook, tweet, or email me. That’s the most rewarding part of being a writer.

Olivia HardinAbout Author Olivia Hardin

About the Author – Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement. With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words. She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she’s generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.
