'Seasons: Summer' by Amber Drappier

Blurb:

Summer romance is in the air.

After going through a nasty divorce, Darcy Andrews retreats to her friend's summer home in Italy where she meets her muse, the young and dashing Luca. Can Darcy resist the urge to pursue this affair and focus instead on her artwork, or will she be swept away in a whirlwind romance?

Read an excerpt:
As they strolled back towards the apartment, and passed over one of many bridges, Darcy stopped. Lifting her hands in front of her face to form an incomplete box, she lifted her index finger and clucked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she took an imaginary picture.

“So beautiful.” She sighed as she spread her arms wide and allowed the cool breeze of the lagoon to envelop her body. And as the moon slowly rose, she marveled at the way its light mixed in with the soft glow of the lanterns and at the array of dancing colors that shimmered off the waterway, turning the peeling paint of the surrounding buildings into their own rainbows. She knew that the wine they’d had at dinner and at the concert was coursing through her system and was causing her senses to go into overdrive, but she thought that even without its added effects, she had never seen anything so stunning.

“Remember this moment, remember this image,” she said in no more than a whisper, and Luca wasn’t sure if she’d been talking to him or herself. Either way, he looked out over the water and tried to see the world as she saw it. But it was impossible, she was simply too high up there for him to ever be on her level. With a sigh, he turned and followed after her.

As soon as they got back to the apartment, she moved over to her supplies and spread an old sheet on the ground. Then she leaned two blank canvasses against the wall and gathered her paints, brushes and other supplies. Sitting down on the floor, she patted the spot next to her.

“Come sit, I’m going to teach you how to paint using a palette knife.”
