However, as the deceptive game unfolds, both Monique and Will come to realize that the heartfelt sentiments expressed in the secret admirer notes were their own true feelings. The note has me laughing. It’s written in Monique’s handwriting, and I can’t even imagine why she—
I look back down at the napkin and grin. So this is Monique’s wise idea to get Brandy to notice me? I now have a secret admirer? Am I supposed to leave these little notes around the house?
I can hear Brandy moving around her room. I look at the note again, and consider it.
Instead of taking my coffee mug with me, I set it on the note. She’ll notice that I forgot my coffee, and maybe she’ll see the writing on the napkin. Well, I have nothing to lose with Monique’s little game. Grabbing my messenger bag, I hike it up onto my shoulder and head out to work. As is the norm, my phone rings as I’m leaving my office and heading to lunch.
“So now you’re my secret admirer?” I ask as I answer the phone, knowing Monique is on the other end.
Her laugh filters through and brings me a bit of warmth as I step outside in the cold.
“Why, Will, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she says on another laugh.

**My thoughts**
This is one of those super sweet second chance "friends to lovers" type romances that just leaves you all warm and fuzzy. Monique and Will have been best friends since the 7th grade, thick as thieves no matter what life threw at them. They have also been in love with each other ever since the 7th grade, but never realized it.
So in their adult worlds, they decide to use each other to help them succeed in their supposed desired romantic endeavors. Will still lives with his ex, for financial reasons. But all he wants is her back the way it used to be. Monique has a new boss at work and he is delicious. So they end up sending each other fake secret admirer notes and gifts. Will is hoping this makes his ex remember how much she loved him. Monique is hoping the ruse will pique her boss's interest.
You can feel the energy swirling between the two of them, as it is obvious to everyone except for themselves. It's a familiar kind of story tthat brings back some great memories of similar stories I have witnessed over the years. There isn't excessive drama, but just enough to keep you reading all the way through and feel like you are part of the story right with them. It's also a clean romance, which is refreshing to find here and there.
I enjoyed this sweet story and am looking forward to finding more romances from this author in the future. It's a great way to spend a couple of afternoons.
