Future Comes From Behind

Fighting what we've become.

An ancient dimension of dark echoes from the past.

Lisa and her family barely manage to escape an invasion from the Rebel army in their home of Malta. Shortly after this episode, she discovers Exo, the ancient dimension she cannot understand until her late 20s. Exo is made of memories of the past; it brings forth all the strong echoes we leave behind. Lisa desperately wants to resolve the conflicts of this inner world peacefully, but quickly learns she must fight the shadows in people's hearts, materialized through battle re-enactments, warfare and emotional turmoil.

Read an excerpt:
Soon the windows revealed smaller buildings and less crowded streets. The train grew emptier too. Lisa heard the monotonous hum of the wheels more clearly; it slowed her heartbeat down to a peaceful pace. In a flash, as she had done many times before, she crossed into what she believed to be a dreaming state of mind.

A dense forest surrounded her. It was cold, and patches of snow covered the ground.

It feels so real… But I wanted a nice view of wild, untamed mountains. And a waterfall. And why can’t I better control the season or the clothes I’m wearing? Lisa wondered, shivering a little. There! She finally spotted an exit from the curtain of trees.

Below, a large lake covered with floating sheets of ice lay at her feet. She was indeed on a mountain. The fresh air was freezing, but she breathed it in eagerly, ignoring the abundant vapors of her warm breath.

What could this resemble? Canada? Alaska? Lisa had learned that, by focusing very deeply with closed eyes, she could sometimes change her clothing or some of the details around her.

This time, only a long scarf appeared on her shoulders after she opened her eyes. “Not enough,” she said, shivering, but proceeded to walk along the cliff regardless. Minutes later, she stopped to take a better look into the distance. A boat? I don’t want to come across any other people this time...Ah, it’s just a log. She could not stand the cold any longer, so she thought about getting back.

Greg raised an eyebrow when he noticed her repeated blinking.

“Your lucid dreams again?”

Lisa nodded in confession.

“Where did you go this time?”

“Far…far from these many babylons.”

“Just another reason why we are a perfect match.” He smiled.

“They are so real. And they feel so long, though they really last just a fraction of a second.”

“Do you meet any people in there?”

“Yes, but I avoid them. It scares me to death how intense and unpredictable they are. Last week I met a tribe in Africa and before that I was in the middle of a medieval city.”

“Lucky you,” said Greg. “It’s a strange yet blissful anomaly, to escape reality like that.”

Author Emma Cyrus interviews Sandy Golden from her book Life Without Shoes

Welcome to the book tour for Life Without Shoes by Emma Cyrus! Today she sat down with one of the characters from her book, Sandy Golden, and interviewed him. And I have to say that I adore these character interviews, because you really get a lot of insight into the character and the story! Please enjoy this stop and then follow the rest of the tour for more fun, leaving your comments and questions along the way. Remember to download your copy and also enter the giveaway!

******************************

My Conversation with Sandy Golden

Emma:  I appreciate your willingness to do an interview, Mr. Golden. It’s not easy to present you in a good light since your character in Life Without Shoes isn’t very likeable. Wouldn’t you agree?
Sandy: Do you remember that old Animals song— “I’m just a soul whose intentions are good? Oh, Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood” —that song’s about me. Everybody sees me the wrong way. I’m always looking for a way to help other peoople. Mistakes happen. Thea was a mistake.
Emma: In the book, you talked about coming from a humble background and making it to the top as a real estate developer. You felt some sympathy with Thea on that. Can you say any more about your climb?
Sandy: I grew up in San Diego. My dad owned a motel near the beach, kind of a low-end motel, and my parents were the only staff. And me, of course, once I was old enough to do stuff — repairs, cleaning, like that. I was lucky to have a high school track coach who had contacts at San Diego State University and helped me get in on a full scholarship.
Emma: And why real estate?
Sandy: Once inside the school of business, I got to know some of the people in the real estate program. They seemed very sharp and down to earth. Real estate is very practical — not a lot of theory. And I could see what was happening down on the waterfront. Buildings going up. I wanted to be in on that.
Emma: Would you say you’ve made it?
Sandy: I was right on track to merge Golden, Sharpe with a bigger firm in San Fran, but they completely tanked during the recession. As you know, we had trouble with the financing of North River Homesteads during those few years.
That project is nearing completion, thankfully. I’ll look around then and decide what’s next. Have I made it? Well, I’m not where I want to be, no.
And, of course, there’s the trial coming up. They wanted me to settle, but I didn’t care for the terms, so now we’re in line for a jury. It’s both good and bad for business to be involved with a high-profile case. I’m on the lookout for another San Francisco real estate firm that might want to buy Golden, Sharpe, and we’ll have to overcome the bias created against me in the media. But developers are very practical, like I said. All they have to do is look at our results.
Emma: And what about your family?
Sandy: I met Carole at SDSU in our senior year. She came from a pretty wealthy Orange County family, and her parents didn’t think very much of me. But I showed them. Our house in Green Butte is almost as big as theirs, and I think I’ve given her a very good life.
No kids, though. She couldn’t have any, and I wasn’t motivated enough to go down the adoption road. We do okay, just the two of us.
Emma: One final question. You mentioned the upcoming trial. It’s been postponed a few times. There are those who say that justice follows the money. Aren’t you a lot better off than John Redmond, because you have expensive attorneys and he has a public defender?
Sandy: Look, about that trial. It’s a joke. We both know I didn’t really have anything to do with that girl. Like I said, mistakes happen. And so what if I can afford the best? That’s the American dream — start at the bottom and end up on top. Redmond just never had a clue about how to do that for himself.
Emma: So, it’s basically his fault that he’s more likely to be convicted?
Sandy: Absolutely!

Life Without Shoes

In the great tradition of The Name of the Rose, the Brother Cadfael mysteries and Grantchester, Life Without Shoes confronts a modern-day monastic with a horrifying crime.

Father Ambrose has found a simple life leading a spiritual community in Northern California. He spends his days on guiding the farming and teaching meditation. Then, someone dumps a body in one of their orchards.

Now, the violence of the modern world has come crashing through the gates. He wants Sheriff Charlie Cormley to believe the body has nothing to do with them, but it’s not that easy. He must take on the role of sleuth to protect his community and find the truth. He finds himself moving out into the world in ways he never imagined, and life at New Life will never be the same.

Read an excerpt:
She slipped the paper out of the sleeve and looked with amusement at the cover story: “Exclusive: Interview with Father Ambrose at New Life!” Under the headline was a large photo of Ambrose sitting at his desk, smiling at the camera. The text started below, continuing to page two.

“Do you want me to read it to you?” she asked.

“No, I signed off on it last night. I’ll look at it later. If it’s different from what I approved, that’s likely to ruin my day, so I’ll just postpone it awhile. He’s got this thing about picturing me heroically. I can’t fault his logic from a journalistic standpoint, but it’s very uncomfortable for me. I just hope New Life benefits from all the attention.”

“If the only one who doesn’t see you as a hero is you, we’ll be fine. Like you said, we’re faced with an opportunity. You might not like it, but this is the way it’s playing itself out. We don’t want reporters accosting our folks at the Farmers’ Market or banging down the gate here, so we have to give them a story that satisfies their readers. Just remember, you can create pretty much any picture you want to. Let’s tell our story by telling stories about you!”

Ambrose groaned. “I don’t want to be famous! I just want a nice, quiet harvest with good sales, no drama, no bodies in bags, no policemen.”

“We’re a little beyond that, don’t you think? I don’t usually say things like ‘suck it up,’ but that’s what I mean. We all need you to do this, and we appreciate that you have the capacity.”

About Emma Cyrus

Emma was born in West Virginia and lived there until she was in high school, when her family moved to Pittsburgh. After high school, she went to Boston to go to college. She worked in different small and startup businesses until she moved into a yoga community in Pennsylvania. There, she’s worked on various projects and taught yoga.

She started the Father Ambrose series as a way of pulling together her love of good mystery stories with her deepening appreciation of the real-life magic and mystery of inner work. Father Ambrose has many characteristics in common with the leaders of her community, but his voice is probably hers, or at least what she thinks her voice would be, if she were living inside the parameters of his life.

She’s discovering the compelling nature of writing fiction and the surprises of working with what other writers have called their ‘muse.’ The creative process seems to have its own timetable and logic. The best results seem to come from stilling her own personal voice and allowing that ‘muse’ to speak.

An Alien Exchange by Keri Kruspe

Calling all fans of sci-fi romance! Here's a new read for you! This one comes from Keri Kruspe. Please enjoy an excerpt from An Alien Exchange and then download your own copy. Leave comments and questions for the author all along the book blast tour and be sure to also enter the giveaway!

An Alien Exchange

Aimee Gwiazdowski has a passion for Alien Abduction romance stories. She vicariously lives through the heroines of her books to escape her lonely, loveless life. Until one morning, she wakes up in a strange, white room where an alluring voice invites her to the “Exchange” to find love and adventure in another world. Did she dare believe it? Could she leave everything behind and take a chance to become one of those heroines who finds true love among the stars?

Exiled Prince Qayyum E’etu and commander of the space vessel StarChance has a mission—transport the human women to the Exchange along with an offer he can’t refuse: find evidence against rumored human trafficking connected with the Exchange. If he can successfully bring the traitors back to Zerin for justice, it would give him a chance to return home. How was he supposed to know that meeting a human woman would put everything he was working for in jeopardy?

As unforeseen evil slowly brews discord within the galaxy, it works to tear Aimee and Qay further apart. If they don’t learn to overcome their fears and trust the love they have for each other, the coming cataclysm will devastate not only Zerin, but Earth as well.

An Alien Exchange is the first book in a sci-fi romance that features intergalactic action, engrossing plots, and courageous individuals. If you like fast-paced action, raw emotions, and sexy aliens, you’ll love this new space adventure.

Read an excerpt:
It was hard to tell how tall he was because he was sitting, but his enormous body hinted at him being one humongous character. The recessed lighting reflected off his bald head as it emphasized the sloping points of his ears. His lower face had raven-black facial hair in an old-fashioned Fu Manchu. His pencil-thin mustache sat atop a small black beard, flowing to his waist. His tunic and pants were made of a red color so deep and rich it bordered on being black.

The deep, depthless onyx of his eyes trapped her. Every Zerin she’d ever met had dual-color eyes with iridescent pupils framed in green hues. Not this man. His eyes had no contrasting color and were as cold and dead as a snake. Her involuntary shivers increased.

“What do you bring me?” the slow boom of the giant asked in a steady inflection. His icy stare never left Aimee as he continued to stroke the sides of his satiny mustache.

“Sire, I have brought you a wondrous gift.” Was that simpering, submissive voice coming from Aja? A glance confirmed it. The syrupy tone went well with the body bending routine of a subservient lackey. Well, wasn’t she lucky to live long enough to see the haughty Aja scraping and bowing like a good little lapdog.

The giant raised a scornful eyebrow. “I fail to see how that is so.” One thick finger beat a rhythmic tattoo on the armrest. Aimee wasn’t an alien expert, but to her, he gave a universal signal of someone fast losing his patience.

A native Nevadan, Keri resides with her family in the wilds of Northwest Michigan where she enjoys the stark change in seasons and the pleasures each one brings. An avid reader, Keri loves an enjoyable bottle of red wine, a variety of delicious foods and watching action/adventure movies…usually at the same time. Why I wrote this book [written in the 1st person]

I was reading one of my favorite Sci-fi romances on my electronic reader after watching the latest’s news about computer hacking. It got me thinking…what if aliens hacked into my reading habits to find someone like me who liked alien romances. Wouldn’t that be a perfect way to find women who might be willing to leaving Earth to find love among the stars…

I envisioned Star Wars meets Pretty women. And that, they say, was that. My story “An Alien Exchange” was born.

Review of Soul Song by Mikea Howard

Welcome to the review tour for Soul Song, another installment in the Soul Mate series. This one comes from Mikea Howard. After checking out an excerpt and my review, you can download your own copy and then follow the tour to read what other people have to say about this book. Be sure to leave comments and questions for the author and then enter the giveaway!

Soul Song

Dottie thought she had it all: a successful singing career, a handsome fiancé, and a starlet’s wardrobe. Sudden betrayal brought it all crashing down around her. Those she trusted most played her as nothing more than a pawn. One misstep while fleeing the scene trapped her in another world alone, save a mysterious visitor.

Guatimozin, an eagle shifter, has spent ages assisting people through the realm between life and death, leading them to join loved ones on either side. No one had ever made him want anything for himself until he discovered this city girl.

Forces plot against them and time is short. Soon, their chance for a happily ever after will be too late.

Read an excerpt:
Dottie wiped the tears from her face. Damn him, and damn his floosy too. She’d do what her mother constantly threatened her stepdad with, and remove his cock to wear it proudly on a chain around her neck.

I jus’ gotta find a way out of this kooky forest first.

Making her way back onto her feet, she dusted off her dress in a mindless motion. The fabric passed beneath her strokes smooth and dirt free. She studied the once vibrant red dress she’d worn on stage. The satin now appeared drab and colorless. Her bare feet peeked from beneath its hem, as clean as the moment she’d dabbed them dry from her bath. The blind sprint from her dressing room, across town, and up the hill, should have left them covered in filth.

In exasperation, she threw her arms in the air. “Swell. I mus’ be dead and I’m . . .”

She moved away from the tree to scrutinize her surroundings. As much as Dottie hoped she’d end up in heaven, her mother always insisted that, as a willful child trying to pass as something she wasn’t, her final destination would be a bit further down.
The sensation of electricity passing through the air made every hair stand on end as a matter-of-fact reply came from behind. “No, you aren’t dead, but you’re not exactly alive either. You’re in a realm known as the in-between.”

Spinning around, Dottie came face to face with a stranger. Like the tree, he appeared in color, only he wasn’t pink and purple. Instead, a tall man with reddish tan skin, swirling silver eyes, and waist length striking black hair, stared at her as though regarding a ghost. Thick muscular arms crossed over his chest as his shocked expression ease into a slow smirk, highlighting the defined beak-like nose, high cheekbones, and strong chin framing his mouth.

Nervously licking her lips, she couldn’t help but muse, Di Mi. Well hello, sailor.

**My thoughts**
This is a book for those who love shifter stories, especially those where two lovers are destined for each other from the very get-go and have some really hot and intense moments. I will say that I felt a little lost with some of the backstory that Tim had. I figured out that he is a character from another series who crossed over into this book to fit into the Soul Mate Tree series. You could conceivably enjoy this book without reading the others by Mikea Howard, but I think you would get even more out of it if you were more familiar with that world.

Dottie was so badly hurt by her ex just before she fell, so I am glad that she was able to find someone else to love, even if it did feel a bit rushed with Tim. Tim has a fierce dedication to her and will do anything to save her, which can be appealing in a leading man. The tree has yet again worked its magic in this installment of the fantasy series.

About Mikea Howard

Writing under Mikea Howard, we are actually Mindy Howard and Kelly Smith, sisters-in-law who share a love for romance, usually paranormal. We have spent the last several years reading and sharing books as well as authors, often making comments about how we'd love to write our own when we ran out of things to read.

While based on our TBR piles, we have not run out of reading material, yet we decided to write when the muse hit Kelly with a dystopian diesel world and an opening scene with the heroine running out into the woods. Mindy then saw her hero step in, and The Diesel War series was born.

Mindy is an IT professional at a telecom company. She is married to a musician and teacher, who also happens to be Kelly's brother. She has one adult son and is living out west.

Kelly is a Registered Nurse working in maternal-fetal medicine. She has a great husband, who happens to be Mindy's husband's best friend. She has one son in high school, one daughter in middle school, and is living on the east coast.

Music Playlist for Presenting the Marriage of Kelli-Anne & Gerry Denemer by P.D. Alleva

Music is the soundtrack to our lives. We rely on it to help set the mood in movies and on TV shows. Soemtimes authors use it to help inspire the writing of a book, or find that certain songs just fit in well with their story. Today, author P.D. Alleva shares the music he associates with his book Presenting the Marriage of Kelli-Anne & Gerri Denemer, plus a sneak peek into some future works. Let him know what you think in the comments. Then follow the tour for more fun with this book and more chances to enter the giveaway.

Please note that affiliate links are present in this post. Should you make a purchase through one, I may earn a small commission to help support my websites at no additional cost to you.

*****************************

Music drives the emotion needed to deliver the message of the story. I call it getting into character. Presenting the Marriage required a deep trance of sadness, heartbreak, universal contemplation and ultimately inspiration. The songs listed below were the driving force behind the story. I could go a few days listening to just one song and switch it up as the story progressed. I don’t choose the songs before beginning to write, I believe they are already a part of it, usually finding their way in as I’m driving with the radio on or maintaining an open ear throughout the day. Sometimes it's just one line in the song that satisfies the emotion needed for a particular scene, sometimes it’s the instrumentals.

Nothing Compares To You (Chris Cornell acoustic version): Listed first for many reasons, most importantly Chris Cornell himself whose life ended tragically. In the book, Gerri hangs himself, but his suicide is prevented by a voice in his smart TV that opens a dimension where Gerri is forced to face his past. I’ve dealt a lot with suicide during my career as a psychotherapist and the impact felt by the people left behind to mourn their loss. The story takes this impact into account when Kelli is confronted by the future of her children. Also, the lyric “Where did I go wrong,” beautifuly belted out by Chris (and Sinead O’Connor in the original version of the song), was used in the story when Gerri is trying to get back into his house. Lyrics were written by Prince, another tragic story, so this song really rang through on multiple levels.

Purple Rain (Adam Levine @ Howard Stern Birthday Bash): Another Prince song and Adam Levine shows off his guitar prowess in this version. The book is about intimate relationships and undying love, and although the lyrics don’t 100% match the story, it’s the guitar solo that drove home the emotion.

Halleujah (all versions): I’ve listened to every version of this song probably 100 times each, gearing up for writing the ending and as the ending unfolded. Love is beautiful, the best of all human experience (my opinion at least), but there’s that other side to it, the heartbreak, loss and cold blood running through your veins when all you want is to be warm and joyful. But love is worth fighting for and the pain it causes is worth the horror. We find light in expressing love and discover beauty the world over when we’ve captured it in our palms. Love can deliver us from any darkness. I used the song’s title several times in the story, I hope I paid the song justice. “It’s not a cry that you hear at night, it’s not somebody who’s seen the light, it’s a cold and it’s a broken Halleujah!” Fantastic Lyric.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (The Beatles): The original title for the book was “Gently Weeping.” I’m a huge Beatles fan, and George Harrison is my favorite Beatle. The mix of lyrics and guitar (seriously if you’re giving your song the title, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, you better make that guitar weep) is paramount, philosophical, heartfelt and down right impactful. Looking at the world turning as love sleeps and that guitar, that guitar sends waves through your bones. Magnificent!!!

In addition to the above my playlist included a lot of 70’s and 80’s love songs, really anything that would remind me of my wife.

*******************************

I’m currently writing book four in the series, The Rose. It’s a dystopian sci-fi set at the tail end of World War III. The rose is a meditation used by alchemists. Alchemy is the ability to transform chemical structures. Also a useful tool when battling alien vampires. The Rose is a prelude to a trilogy titled The Indigo Trials which will be released next year. After The Rose, I’ll be writing book four in this series, about a 1940’s New York socialite whose sculpture comes to life after a break up with the love of her life. Think Frankenstein meets My Fair Lady. Title is Golem, a psychological supernatural thriller. I have nine books planned in the Beyond the Chamber Door Series.

Presenting the Marriage of Kelli-Anne & Gerry Denemer

The Denemer's had it all: Fame, fortune, family, and the American Dream. But tough times have landed on their doorstep— Gerri's acting career is mired in controversy, financial decline is strangling the family bond, and his marriage to Kelli Anne is on the rocks. He'd rather die than face another catastrophe, something the Devil is more than eager to assist. On the night Gerri attempts to end his suffering, his plan is thwarted by a voice in his smart TV, pulling him into a dimension where past, present, and future collide, and the fate of the human race hangs in the balance. But Gerri is not alone. The Devil's minions are nipping at his heels and Kelli is right behind them, determined to save her family and put right what has gone wrong. Will they be successful? Is the bond between husband and wife strong enough to defeat evil? Will they prevent World War III or will evil's plan triumph? Presenting the Marriage of Kelli Anne and Gerri Denemer: A Horror Story, is a tour de force thriller of dark fiction, romance, and horror in an epic battle between good and evil.

Read an excerpt:
He ran to the house, struggling through the wind that sought to push him over, to deter him from entering that house.

“No, Gerri,” the chaperone hollered. “Do NOT go in there!”

But Gerri quickened his pace.

The chaperone was in front of him.

He turned to go around him.

The chaperone was in front of him.

He jerked to the left, running at max speed.

The chaperone was in front of him, pushed Gerri to the ground. Picked him up and clasped Gerri’s shoulders with an iron hand.

“It’s not allowed, Gerri.”

“What’re you talking about? I just want to go home.”

The chaperone laughed. He started pacing, circling Gerri with his hand on Gerri’s shoulder.

“What do you think, Gerri, hang yourself and you get to go back home? No, no, no, Gerri. Look around you. You’re not even close to home!”

“What? That can’t be!”

“Between worlds, Gerri! That’s where you are. What’s in that house is nothing. Nothing more than the slither of energy you left, the portal of death with the stink of fear. You’re not welcome there. Not welcome at all.” He slipped his hand off Geri’s shoulder. Stepped an arm’s length away from him.

“No, no, no, this can’t be! This can’t be.”

“Oh, yes, Gerri, it can, and it is.”

The chaperone paused.

“It’s best that you come with me Gerri.”

Gerri screamed, “Where did I go wrong?”

The chaperone stiffened.

He turned to the house and paused.

Miracles are Golden

By Catherine Lanigan

Women's Fiction, Christmas
ebook, 100 Pages
February 2, 2016

This heartwarming story is about eight-year-old Jimmy Longwood, who has fallen in love with a Golden Retriever puppy. When his parents explain that their condo does not allow pets, Jimmy is heartbroken. While skiing in Aspen the entire family is killed in an avalanche. Jimmy goes to heaven and meets an angel who decides to send Jimmy back to earth as the very Golden Retriever he’d wanted for his own and to learn the one lesson all human beings must learn…unconditional love.

GoodreadsAmazonBarnes & NobleKobo

Read an excerpt:

Jimmy glanced at the clock once more as he followed his father
into the kitchen where he sat on a wrought iron Tuscan influenced bar
stool. He leaned on the granite counter top watching his father hiding
presents in the pantry.

“Did you talk to your mother?” John asked.

“We began a discussion about Bubblehead and again I reminded
her that Grandpa and Grandma gave me a hundred dollars for my
birthday this year which puts me over the top for enough money to buy
Bubblehead. Which we can do, Dad, if you’ll just get your coat and
hat…”

“Jimmy,” John sucked in a long breath to cool his frustration.
“No.”

“Dad, this woman came into Mr. Lenza’s shop and she is going to
take Bubblehead! She paid a deposit and everything.”

“Then it’s settled. He’s sold!”

“He’s not gone yet. We can save him!” Jimmy was nearly on the
verge of tears.

John walked around the corner and hugged Jimmy. “Take a deep
breath. There. That’s better. Now, let’s talk about this. Not just you
talking, but me, too.”

“Okay.” Jimmy replied wiping his eyes. “But promise you won’t
use your shrink talk with me, okay?”

“I’ll save it for my patients. Agreed?” John smiled.

“Okay,” Jimmy sniffed.

“Please try to understand, Jimmy. We can afford a puppy, even one
as expensive as this eight hundred dollar Golden Retriever. And
despite the fact that your mother and I truly believe a puppy is an
enormous responsibility…”

“I’m up to it, Dad. Honest. I’ll feed him, walk him, pick up his
poop, give him a bath. All of it.”

“That’s easy when he’s little, son, but a Golden Retriever is a big
dog when he’s grown. What if he’s a really big one? Over a hundred
pounds. Just his grooming is a chore.”

“I would love every second,” Jimmy replied looking down at his
shoes.

“Somehow, I believe you would,” John said. “Still, it’s a big
responsibility.”

“Dad, how can I learn responsibility if I don’t have a dog?”

“Jimmy, you don’t even clean your room. And there’s nothing in
there to feed!”

Jimmy brightened. “Precisely! That’s why I don’t feel the need to
bond with things in my room by fussing with them all the time. I mean
what does that say about my psyche if I’m obsessed with material
things?”

“Where is your mother when I need her?”

“She said court was running late,” Jimmy replied. “Dad, I love
Bubblehead. He loves me.”

“That’s impossible for a dog in a pet store to love you. You
haven’t had enough time to form a relationship. He doesn’t know you.
You don’t know him.”

Jimmy looked past his father to the stainless steel appliances. “Not
if you visited him thirty-five times.”

“Is that where you’ve been after school?”

“Dad, this isn’t an ordinary dog. He’s really special.” Jimmy was
so earnest in his plea he didn’t realize he’d started shaking.

John rubbed Jimmy’s shoulders to comfort him. “I can see this is
upsetting you, Jimmy. I’ll tell you what. Your mother and I will look
into all this. Maybe there is something we can work out with the
building supervisor. Which, realistically is a very long shot, but even if
we can’t, then I guess we’d have to move.”

“Move?” Jimmy brightened.

“If having a dog means so much to you, then the only solution I
can see is moving. We would have to find another building, hopefully
as well located as this one is for me and your mother. I don’t want her
traveling by herself to court and back. Plus, she can’t move outside her
jurisdiction.”

“Oh, this is very complicated.”

“It is. But it’s not impossible.”

Jimmy expelled a deep sigh. “I know you are being really great
about this, Dad, but see, it’s Bubblehead I want. And this rich lady is
going to take him away.” Jimmy started crying. “I don’t even own
him, he’s not even mine and I miss him so much already it hurts
inside…here,” he said pointing to his heart.

John enfolded his son into his arms. “I don’t know what to say,
Jimmy. I had no idea you and Bubblehead meant so much to each
other.”

“We do, Dad. We do.”

“I know I’ve always told you that anything is possible. But this
one…”

A fat tear welled in Jimmy’s eye and fell down his cheek. “This
one is impossible.”

“For this puppy, for this Christmas, I’m afraid so.”

To the horror of my parents, I left school at sixteen and held a bewildering variety of jobs: I was a London DJ (in the now-trendy Primrose Hill), a decorator and a singer. After that I became a cook, a photographer and, eventually, a nurse. I waitressed in the south of France, drove an ambulance in Australia, saw lots of beautiful sights but could never settle down. Everywhere I went I felt like a square peg--until one day I started writing again and then everything just fell into place. I felt like Cinderella must have when the glass slipper fit!

Today, I have the best job in the world, writing passionate romances for Harlequin. I like writing stories which are sexy and fast-paced, yet packed full of emotion--stories that readers will identify with, laugh and cry along with.
My interests are many and varied--chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films, cooking and trying to keep my home from looking burglarized! Simple pleasures--you can't beat them!
I live in Winchester, one of the most stunning cities in the world, but don't take my word for it--come see for yourself! I regularly visit London and Paris. Oh, and I love hearing from my readers all over the world...so I think it's over to you!
