'Lucky Charm' by Marie Astor Excerpt Tour

Lucky Charm
by Marie Astor

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Twenty-eight-year old Annabel Green is about to tie the knot with her college love, an aspiring author Jeremy Blake, but her plans for an ideal wedding are rudely interrupted when she catches Jeremy kissing his gorgeous book agent.
Shell-shocked by Jeremy’s betrayal, Annabel retreats into the quiet routine of TV dinners and solitary evenings. It is then that Annabel’s best friend, fashion designer Lilly Clayton, sets herself on a mission to draw Annabel out of her shell. In an attempt to persuade Annabel to keep an open mind on dating, Lilly takes Annabel for a stunning makeover, but after Annabel passes on a date with a dashing entrepreneur, Lilly decides that more drastic measures are needed. Lilly invites Annabel to see a palm reader who gives Annabel a lucky charm that is supposed to help her find true love.
A few weeks later, Annabel meets a new love interest, and as the two embark on a whirlwind romance, she starts to believe in the power of the talisman the palm reader has given her. But what Annabel doesn’t know is that Lilly is hiding a secret that could unravel her faith in her newly found luck in love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Read an exclusive excerpt:
That must be my blind date, Annabel thought, her heart in her mouth, as she absentmindedly reciprocated Simon’s greeting. Lilly had been right. Etienne was handsome. He was of average height, no more than five-nine, but well built, with a muscular torso that Annabel could spot from beneath his tailored jacket. His longish, coal-dark hair made his dark brown eyes look intense, which together with his perfectly straight nose and sensually curved lips made Annabel knees buckle. She did her best to steady herself, which was difficult to say the least, as she raked her mind for a witty remark for the stunning stranger. Annabel secretly patted the heart-shaped pendant on her neck, thinking that perhaps Madam Aurora’s charm did have some power after all.
Annabel, Lilly, I would like to introduce my best friend, Etienne Gerard.”
Hello,” the dark, handsome stranger spoke in a low baritone as he bowed slightly.
Lilly Clayton. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Lilly smiled coyly as she eyed Annabel out of the corner of her eye.
Likewise. Simon has told me so much about you.” Etienne shook Lilly’s hand, his glance wandering toward Annabel.
Annabel, Annabel Green,” Annabel stammered, barely able to get a grip on herself as she stared into Etienne’s dark eyes.
It is a pleasure to meet you, Annabel.” Etienne bowed slightly as he took Annabel’s hand into his.
Likewise,” Annabel gasped, thinking that his voice was like smooth silk. Etienne’s grip was firm, yet gentle and Annabel felt electric tingles running through her body as he held her hand in his for just a moment longer than necessary.
Shall we get seated?” Simon interrupted the awkward pause.
By all means.” Etienne finally tore his dark, velvety gaze away from Annabel.
I’m looking forward to this!” Lilly exclaimed, and from the sly glint in her friend’s eyes, Annabel could tell that food was not what Lilly was referring to.
The maitre d’ ushered them to their table – the most secluded table in the restaurant that stood in the alcove, against the far wall. Lilly and Annabel took their seats next to one another, and Simon and Etienne sat across from them.
A perfectly postured waiter brought out the menus and wine list.
Upon opening the menu, Annabel was mortified to see that it was entirely in French and now she wished that, like Lilly, she had paid more attention to those French classes so many years ago. The knowledge would surely come in handy now. As she circumspectly eyed Etienne, who was engrossed in discussing an entry on the wine list with Simon, Annabel attempted to dig up long-forgotten words that floated in her mind like vague ghosts. The only word that she managed to recognize on the menu was fromage, which she was fairly certain meant cheese, and she could not remember a word more to save her life. Annabel was about to ask for help when Simon came to the rescue.
But there is no English menu!” he exclaimed with indignation, shaking his head. Simon motioned to the waiter, and within moments an English version of the menu was placed before Lilly and Annabel.
Now I know I should have paid more attention to French in school.” Annabel smiled guiltily as she began to examine the menu.
You studied French?” Etienne’s eyebrows arched as he looked at her from across the table.
Yes.” Annabel nodded, bidding herself not to blush. “But only the required curriculum in school, and it seems that I’ve forgotten most of it,” she confessed.
Ah.” Etienne bowed his head slightly as he returned to the examination of the wine list.
If it were possible to fall through the floor this very minute, Annabel would have done so gladly. It was painfully clear that Etienne’s impression of her was that of a complete, blundering idiot, and for the life of her, she could not think of anything to say to change his mind.
As if sensing her friend’s agitation, Lilly came to the rescue. “So, Etienne, Simon tells me that you travel a lot to the States for work?”
Etienne nodded. “Yes, now and then. I can’t say that that is my favorite part of the job, but it has to be done,” he added reluctantly.
Well, that settles it, Annabel thought, as she took a hasty gulp of water. He definitely hates American girls.
So, Etienne, are you fine with this wine then?” Simon attempted to steer the conversation into a different direction. “Etienne’s uncle owns a vineyard, so Etienne is our wine expert.”
Etienne nodded distractedly. “Yes, no - I’m sorry, I can’t do this.” Etienne rose abruptly from his chair, almost flinging it backwards. “I’m sorry, but I’ve completely forgotten that I have a previous engagement. Annabel, it was a pleasure meeting you.”
Etienne! What’s wrong?” Simon rose from his chair, his face filled with embarrassment.
Without another word, Etienne stumbled toward the exit.
With a great effort, Annabel forced herself to keep her mouth from gaping open. It turned out all those stories about French being jerks were not stereotypes after all.

'The Odor of Violet' by Ju Ephraime Book Tour & Review

THE ODOR OF VIOLET
By
Ju Ephraime

BLURB:

STEP INTO THE SIGHTLESS WORLD OF DAMIEN FALCONER, AS HE STRUGGLES TO COME TO GRIPS WITH THE BLISTERING ATTRACTION HE FEELS FOR HIS NEW PERSONAL ASSISTANT, LISA ANDREWS.

Full of self-doubt as he struggled to regain his independence, the last thing Damien was looking for when he hired his new assistant, was to fall in love. So, he fought it for as long as he could, until the feelings he had for Lisa kept chipping away at him. Exposing a heart he had thought encased in stone, never to love again.

Lisa, a gentle, caring individual, a professional nurse, and inexperienced in matters of the heart, was ill-equipped to deal with the emotional and physical attraction she felt for her boss, Damien Falconer. Fully cognizant of the pitfalls that exist in such a relationship, Lisa fought equally hard to resist the powerful lure of Damien.

The blistering attraction between Damien and Lisa was searing in its intensity. Both were trying desperately to do the right thing, but the fates had other plans for them. Can two hearts that were broken be made whole again?…..

EXCERPT:
Ms. Andrews walked into the room, and Damien felt the air leave his lungs. He could not see her, but he felt Jake’s reaction also. He was not certain if he was mirroring Jake’s reaction to the candidate or his own overactive imagination. Whatever the reason, he had a physical reaction to whomever it was that walked into his library. She was polite and calm, and he sensed she had a smile on her face because Jake had an answering smile in his voice when he greeted her. Poor Damien, he couldn’t see a thing, but boy, was he aware of her. He could smell the fragrance she was wearing, and it was doing strange things to his body.

There was a hint of jasmine, mixed with a bit of musk, but the overwhelming scent was of violet. He recognized the scent because of the perfusion of violet plants that grew in the garden surrounding his house.

It was his favorite flower. He was never tired of sitting on the porch just inhaling its heady fragrance.

On Ms. Andrews, the fragrance was positively intoxicating. The mixture of violet with her unique scent was overpowering. Damien was almost in pain from the strength of his physical reaction to her. He was uncomfortable in his seat and kept fidgeting and moving to get a more comfortable position. He did not want either Jake or the young woman to notice his discomfort. He desperately wanted to see the woman who was in his library, but he had to be content with just listening to her responses to Jake’s questions.

She sounded a bit flustered because she would begin each response with a slight nervous laugh, and Jake would respond in kind. This exchange between the two infuriated Damien, who wanted to participate in the conversation. He interrupted one of Jake’s questions to her with one of his own.

“Tell me, Ms. Andrews, how long have you been out of school?”

**My thoughts**

 Damien and Lisa are two lost souls who come across each other when Lisa interviews for a job as his aide. Both of them have been burned in love. Lisa was taken advantage of and humiliated. Damien was abandoned by the woman he thought would be his forever, simply because he was no longer "perfect" in her eyes. An accident left him blind a couple of years earlier.

Lisa comes on board to help Damien conduct his daily life and business while his friend and helper Jake prepares to go out of town. Her scent, which overwhelmingly is like violets, appeals to Damien, awakening a sexual passion in him that he hasn't known in years. He has no idea what she looks like, but is completely attracted to her.

Lisa is also attracted to Damien because of his male scent. But because she can see, she is also extremely drawn to his physical prowess. They predictably succumb to their desires, but not without a few rocks thrown in their way to cause them to stumble a bit. Damien also has a big secret that he isn't ready to share with Lisa.

This book is hot and heavy in the sex department, but not in a way that makes it seem dirty. If blatant sexual scenes bother you, then this book is not for you. If you like it hotter, you will enjoy this book.

About the Author:

I can’t recall a time in my life when I wasn’t writing. I know I started a long, long, time ago. I began writing short stories for the local radio station in my home town, which were read on the air at story time. After I had my children, I went back to school to further my education. I have since earned several degrees, including two Masters and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. During the course of my schooling, I wrote and published a working curriculum for a career school, as well as, other literary works. A couple years ago, I revisited my first love, writing for fun and enjoyment.

I live in a small town in Connecticut, where the closest thing to a mall is a shopping strip, so nothing exciting happens there. I’m a mother of three and a grandmother of five. My dog Bondine is my favorite companion when I take up pen and paper to write.

Many of my stories are set in the places I've visited. The children I encounter during my travels determine the theme of the book.  I love to write stories about talented, inquisitive, and curious children who are thirsty for knowledge.

When I’m not writing my children books, I write romance novels under a pen name. Oftentimes, I take the time to visit the places in which my stories are set, which is the icing on the cake. My second love is traveling, and those times when I can combine writing with traveling, I’m usually in writers' heaven because I’m doing my two most favorite things...

'Rattleman' by George D. Shuman Book Tour & Review

Rattleman
George D Shuman

From George D. Shuman who served twenty years with the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington DC, and whose international bestseller, '18 Seconds', is currently in production as a major Hollywood motion picture.
Better still, 'Rattleman' is George D. Shuman's most gripping crime thriller yet.

The Rattleman knows every crevice, every creek, every cave, every ravine, every inch of his remote hunting grounds in the Appalachian Mountains.

He is a determined serial killer, always waiting for his next victim to cross his path.

When Park Ranger Jane Cameron literally stumbles across the remains of two of his victims, she discovers that she too has been caught in his trap.

And when the 'Rattleman's prey is at his mercy, she’s dead.

Buy on Amazon: http://amzn.to/YUfcLq

**My thoughts**

I chose to participate in this book tour because I have a thing for serial killer novels. Rattleman doesn't disappoint. Snakes creep me out to no end, and obviously there is a connection to rattlesnakes for this crazy man. The deranged man has been led quite astray by those snake-handling Pentecostals, completely missing their lessons. He prefers to hide in the wildnerness along the Appalachian Trail, murdering those unlucky enough to cross his path. He especially seems to have a thing for women, killing them in a most foul way.

Shuman writes descriptively, using an extensive vocabulary that enriches his prose. Each character has a purpose; all of them brought together when appropriate. There is enough action to keep you intrigued, and even a smidge of romance thrown in. It's a book that easily lends itself to a movie, which I believe is in the works.

About George D. Shuman

George Shuman is the international bestselling author of the Sherry Moore series about a blind woman who can see 18 seconds from a dead person's life, using her innate ability to track down their killers.

George's first four Sherry Moore books are published by Simon & Schuster. '!8 Seconds' is currently in production for a major Hollywood motion picture.

'Rattleman' is the first of George's books to be published by Taylor Street. It too will be a major Hollywood motion picture.

Thanks for having me on your blog today Andrea!!! Jilly and Caroline have decided to hijack the post today and give you a top ten list. I hope you all enjoy it!

Top ten favorite tv shows of all time.

  1. Jilly~ Bones. I love this show, what’s not to love? We have some mystery, a love story or two, and some eye candy for the men and women, really, it has everything.
  2. Caroline~ The Vampire Diaries. I feel like I could just leave it at that and everyone would understand. But really, the storylines always keep me on the edge of my seat, love it. And.....Damon Salvatore.
  3. Jilly~ Mythbusters. William got me into this show, and now I’m addicted. They do so many cool sciency things on this show. I’m a sucker for blowing things up. Who knew?
  4. Caroline~ Grimm. I.LOVE. This. Show! It’s soooooo good. Patrick and I watch it together, and he tells me about the things that are real and what’s not.....
  5. Jilly~ Law and Order SVU. This one I enjoy, because when either William or Caroline watch it with me, I like to try and guess who the bad guy is right at the beginning....it drives them nuts.
  6. Caroline~ True Blood. Vampires, Shifters, Faeries, oh my! Love this show. It always keeps me guessing. And there is no shortage of hotties to look at....although don't tell Patrick I said that.
  7. Jilly~ Say Yes to the Dress. What can I say, I’m a sucker for shows like this. I love all things wedding. The pretty dresses, the catty women, it’s hilarious and amazing all wrapped up into one show.
  8. Caroline~ Battlestar Galactica. I’m a nerd, there, I’ve said it. I started this show just after I moved in with Jilly, and was hooked immediately. I think I burned through all the seasons in like a month. Don’t judge me ;)
  9. Jilly~ Archer. If you haven’t seen this show yet, go and watch it now! It’s so hilariously inappropriate. I’ve seen all the seasons and I laugh everytime I watch it. It’s got secret agents, and humor....what’s not to love?
  10. Caroline~ Friends. I have all the seasons on DVD, and I watch them all the time. I still get all gooey inside when Monica and Chandler get married, and when Ross and Rachel have their baby.

Jilly: I hope you guys enjoyed our list. Don’t judge Caroline too much about her nerdy Battlestar Galactica fetish.
Caroline: Hey! I’ll stand by my shows. *laughs* Are you embarrassed about your Law and Order habit?
Jilly: Not in the least. *laughs and rolls her eyes*

Thanks again for having us today Andrea!!! Tell me you guys, what are your favorite shows? did any of yours make the list?

Title: Chasing The Witch
Author: Jessica Gibson
Genre: Paranormal Romance

After the events of Mark of the Witch, Jilly at last begins to breathe easier though her powers are still growing. But can she harness them in time to confront a new chain of events that threatens to change everything?

Caroline has finally accepted her life as a witch, but when a stranger comes into her life she's forced to question her family loyalty.

The sisters are thrown together to protect a young girl from the enemy determined to hunt her down. Can they save her -- and themselves?

Read an excerpt:
Jilly opened her eyes and found herself in a dark forest filled with fog. She stood still, looking around her for any clues to where she was. She heard voices in the distance and saw the flickering light of a fire. She made her way silently through the night towards the voices. She stopped about ten yards from where the people stood and got down on the ground so she could inch closer without being seen. She finally reached a point where she could see but not be seen; and stopped, hiding behind a large bush. The leaves scratched at her skin. It was two men talking. One of them was Patrick and the other was a tall blonde man she had never seen before.

“When will we have the girl?” the man asked.

“I’m working on it, Drew. It’s trickier than it should be. My first priority is finding Sabine, right now. We can worry about the girl after that. I need you to work on that. It’s your assignment while you’re in Boston.” Drew nodded and melted into the darkness behind him.

“You may as well come out, Jillian. I know you’re there,” Patrick said dryly. Jilly got up slowly and brushed off her pants as she made her way over to Patrick. “You’re awfully brave to be out here alone in the night.”

Jilly shrugged. “I guess, or crazy. Either way I’m here.”

Patrick laughed. “You know, I think we could be friends if you weren’t with my saint of a brother.”

“Do you want to tell me who that guy was?” Jilly asked.

“Not really,” Patrick shot back.

“Ok, how about the girl?”

“What girl do you mean, Jillian? I know many girls.”

“Don’t be cute, Patrick. It doesn’t suit you. What girl were you talking about?”

He sneered at her. “Now why would I tell you that, Jillian? That would ruin all of my fun. I need to run, and you really should wake up.” He shoved her and Jilly felt herself being sucked backwards. She opened her eyes and she was back in bed. After letting the shock of the experience wear off, she rolled over toward William.

"I am seriously impressed with how the author took the simplistic Amish life and combined it with a futuristic, almost dystopian story line as seamlessly as she did. I highly recommend it." Crafty Cauldron

"I am also a sucker for Amish stories, and love the idea of the new paranormal/supernatural/dystopian twists using them. This book is electric. You are pulled into Lydia's story and keep on reading, trying to find out what happens next.I tried to figure out what I would do if I were in her situation.
