Synopsis
A young girl,
Krissa, and her little brother, Micah, have been pushed around the
foster system until they find themselves in the care of "Grandma"
Athey. Krissa begins having unusual dreams and her brother knows
more than she thinks. Their new friends, Pin, and her twin brother,
Khevin, join forces to unravel Krissa's questions. Krissa has become
The Chosen One and is drawn into a mission against an evil faction
that usurped the throne from Khevin's family. With a group of
friends accumulated from school, Krissa learns to control her new
found powers and follow her dreams to a world they all fled from as
small children. Who keeps the most secrets? Will Krissa know what
she must do when the time comes? Will their mission succeed?

Must Choose Which Way to Go
For thirteen
year old Krissa Wittek, getting dumped from one home to another has
become a way of life in the nearly six years since the death of her
parents. Finding a permanent family for both her and her nine year
old brother, Micah, together is nearly impossible, but it’s her
only goal in life. That is until she discovers a glowing key in the
attic of their eerie new guardian, “Grandma” Athey Boske,
triggering events that plunge her into a life of magic along with Pin
and Khevin Hillard, Lonnie Gonzales, and Sealey Kemp, her first real
friends ever.
Krissa
struggles to adjust to the emotions she feels that aren’t her own,
to the strange voice that only she can hear, and to the bizarre and
violent reactions both she and her glowing key have towards a fellow
student, Marc Jebel. Questions pummel her mind as butterflies ravage
her stomach. Why does she feel so instantly comfortable around
Grandma Athey and Pin after years of guarding herself? What are her
dreams trying to tell her? Why does she hate Marc so much? What’s
the strange energy she can feel coming from Khevin? And, why is
Micah acting so strangely?

What
People Are Saying About It
"Tunuftol's
Fortress of Light is a wonderfully woven story full of fun, charisma
and entertainment," said Jodie Pierce, author of The
Vampire Queen. "She writes in a
manner that the reader feels like they are right there... She gives
you a whole world where you can immerse yourself for awhile. This is
a page turner that is hard to put down."
"Must
have second book... Already addicted. Great first book." --

Biography
I
grew up in Vermont mostly and now live in Virginia with my family
(those still at home). My husband and I have a blended family of
seven kids. My childhood was spent moving around a lot.
(non-military) About five years ago, we started home-schooling our
youngest children. Now there are only two remaining in home-school.
I have tried to nurture the love of books in our children and now our
grandchildren -- always nurturing their imaginations. Recently, I
have become active in our community with literacy, starting a local
(and online) creative writing club and volunteer tutoring at the
Adult Learning Center.
I
struggle with Fibromyalgia and PTSD. So, have to be careful not to
overdo things... I don't always listen to my own advice. I have a
dry, sarcastic and corny sense of humor and always try to look at
things optimistically. (again not always successful) However, I
feel that if I don't give up -- for long -- then things will work out
for the best eventually.
