The Silver Cross
There are two things Boston detective Lacey Gardner knows about killing vampires. Slicing off a head or a hit directly to the heart are the only surefire ways to kill one. Silver is their Achilles heel. A vampire never wears silver. When she meets bartender extraordinaire, Damon Harte, her heart does a quickstep for the dark hunky guy. She's learned the hard way that having a love interest in her line of work can be heart-wrenching. She's kept to herself for years, but something about Damon captivates her and draws her to him. When she learns Damon's devastating secret, she knows what she has to do: kill the man who has stolen her heart.
**My thoughts**
This book made me think of NCIS or Law & Order meets Vampire Hunters, or something like that. Lacey works for a special unit of her police department, known as Fringe. She has a unique ability to track and kill vampires, who seem to be taking over the city again. She also has revenge on her mind and will do whatever it takes to get it.
The action kept the pages turning of this book, as I was drawn into the story. The relationship between Damon and Lacey quickly builds up and then quickly falls apart. Each of them holds a secret that plays into their rise and fall. These secrets could cost them everything.
There are a couple of twists through the plot. One builds up as the book goes on, but the big one explodes at the climax of this book. I really didn't see that coming, though I should have guessed. Soon after that comes the cliffhanger ending. The epilogue could serve to satiate some readers, but more likely you are going to want to check out the next book to find out what happens next!
