THE LENS

BLURB:
Mika
Walters is a normal woman working in the not so normal world of New
York Fashion. As long time assistant to uber sexy photographer
Alejandro Vargas she’s tired of being the girl in the background.
Just once she wants Alejandro to look at her with the same smoldering
look he gives to his willowy models and now she has her chance.
Stranded.
After
a travel mishap where the rest of the crew and the models can’t
make the remote location shoot for another three days Mika is taking
her moment to catch Alejandro’s eye and put herself in front of
Alejandro’s camera and if all goes to plan, his bed… at least
until the real world catches up with them.
Alejandro
doesn’t know what’s gotten into Mika maybe it’s the sand, maybe
it’s the sun, but he doesn’t really care. All he knows is that
he’s finally opened his eyes and is seeing her clearly for the
first time as the smart, gorgeous and incredibly irresistible woman
she is.
But
why can’t she realize that what he’s feeling for her is not one
of his usual one, well, three night stands? This is real. Real love,
real passion. What’s it going to take for him to prove to Mika that
she’s the woman he wants? Now and forever.
Read an excerpt:
He ran a finger lightly across the display and then looked up at her biting her bottom lip as she clutched the edge of the boat. Something was different. Lately she’d seemed on edge. It was like the old camaraderie they’d had was gone, replaced by a new back-and-forth tug of war, different than their usual, where neither could seem to get the upper hand or a sense of satisfaction. He looked down again and hit a few buttons zooming in on her eyes, studying their fire, their passion.
Passion?
Now that was new. His lips curled in concentration. Passion was not a word he thought he’d be using when describing Mika. Well, sure, maybe passionate about her work. She was always good at her job. Hell, she was the best. Passionate about keeping him on track, and she was passionate about learning. About being the best at what she did, despite this little slip up which was so unlike her.
In all honesty, even he had to admit that some of her test shots for him could easily go in a top magazine. But even when she’d been with that corporate boyfriend of hers, he’d never thought of her as particularly passionate, at least not that way. He gave a grunt. Not that he wanted to think about her in any sort of passionate situation with that jerk. That was the last image he wanted seared into his brain. He frowned deeper as a feeling pricked at him. Wiggling its way under his skin. Had he been missing something?
**My thoughts**
Mika and Ale are a couple that appears to not have had a chance ever finding each other before they went on their island adventure. Neither one of them seems to have consciously noticed each other beyond their working relationship. As the reader, I was just as surprised as the characters when the heat suddenly overcame both of them upon their arrival on the island.
And wow, was it hot! The two of them spend a very steamy three days together before the rest of the models and the crew arrive. It's just as hot between them as the air is in this tropical paradise!
While I was reading it, I found myself getting annoyed with each of them in turn. Mika refuses to acknowledge that there could be something between her and Ale. She keeps insisting that this is only a three-day affair, no matter what Ale tries to tell her. And then, she gets extremely jealous of anyone else who gets near him. Ale resorts to some childish manipulation to try to get what he wants out of Mika. I chuckled when Mika even comments how "junior high-ish" the whole affair becomes at one point.
The two of them have a lot of potential to work things out, if they can both just let go of their stubborn streaks. I'll let you find out if they're able to work it out or not.

ReplyDeleteHi, K.M.and Andi,
ReplyDeleteK.M., I always enjoy meeting a fellow Crimson author. Enjoy your book tour!
Thank you so much for having me here today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! It's definitely really helpful :) One of my character pet peeves is when the heroine keeps denying that the guy has feelings for her...there's ususally a whole bunch of insecurity thrown in with a pinch of ego stroking for the guy...but I still like the sounds of this book so I'm gunna keep on following the tour :P
