Susan happy life is torn apart when her teenage son goes missing the same night an explosion rips apart the community. Susan knows it’s only a matter of time before the police start breaking down their doors.
Before the reconditioning begins and Susan's identity is lost, she must do one final thing.
Find her son.
**My thoughts**
This was an interesting dystopian read. Everyone now lives in havens, which are all identical, and resemble the 1950s. Humans exist among a group known as "glistenings," who resemble humans in many ways. Glistenings also want to be human. But the humans think that glistenings are actually evil monsters. What is interesting is that the glistenings often seem less like monsters than the humans! Watch out when one of the humans becomes pregnant with a glistening's child. And who else is hiding a secret?
Numerous subplots weave together to form the full novel. Once you are able to keep track of each story, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you engrossed in the story.
